Saint Jude (or Jude Thaddaeus) was one of the twelve Apostles of Jesus, often venerated in Roman Catholicism as the patron saint of lost causes, desperate situations, and hope. He is traditionally depicted wearing green, holding an image of Jesus, or holding a club, representing his martyrdom (c. 65–66 AD).

Identity: He is sometimes called Thaddeus or Lebbaeus and is distinct from Judas Iscariot. He is believed to be the brother of Saint James the Less and a “brother” (likely cousin) of Jesus.
