Saint Vincent de Paul (1581–1660) was a French Catholic priest known as the “Apostle of Charity”. He dedicated his life to serving the impoverished, reforming the clergy, and establishing organized systems of social relief, including hospitals, orphanages, and programs for galley prisoners.

Founding Religious Orders: He founded the Congregation of the Mission (the Vincentians) to train priests and evangelize the rural poor, and he co-founded the Daughters of Charity with Saint Louise de Marillac, the first non-cloistered order of women dedicated to active charitable work.
Organized Charity: He pioneered structured philanthropy, organizing laywomen (the Ladies of Charity) to visit, feed, and nurse the sick and destitute on a massive scale.Reforming the Clergy: He was instrumental in improving the spiritual and educational standards of French priests, effectively laying the groundwork for the modern seminary system.
