Medal – Holy Family / St Joseph – Designed and Made In Italy – Silver Oxide 22mm x 15mm
The Holy Family consists of the Child Jesus, the Blessed Virgin Mary and Saint Joseph. The subject became popular in Christian art from the 1490s on, but veneration of the Holy Family was formally begun in the 17th century by Saint François de Laval, the first bishop of New France, who founded a confraternity.
Saint Joseph is best known in the Christian tradition as the earthly, foster father of Jesus Christ and the husband of the Virgin Mary. He is revered as the ultimate model of fatherhood, a protector of the Holy Family, and the patron saint of workers and the Universal Church
